  • Libra Ligas do Brasil, located in the municipality of Banabuiú – CE, has been consolidating its commitment to socio-environmental responsibility through a series of actions aimed at preserving the environment, environmental education and strengthening a sustainable culture among its stakeholders.

  • In partnership with the Geocorr Ambiental consultancy and public and private institutions, the company is developing ongoing projects that are in line with the best ESG practices and contribute directly to promoting sustainability in Ceará’s Sertão Central.

E – Enviromental (Environmental)

The PLLEA – Libra Ligas Environmental Education Program, created five years ago in partnership with Geocorr Ambiental, has already impacted around 2,000 students from Banabuiú’s public school system. There are 20 educational activities every 4 months, including dynamics on water use, selective collection, SDGs and planting seedlings. Consolidated as one of the company’s main social fronts, the program promotes environmental awareness and responsibility from an early age.

Within the company, awareness-raising activities also extend to employees, stimulating their perception of individual impacts on the environment and promoting employee engagement in more sustainable practices inside and outside the industrial environment.

Libra Ligas do Brasil has a partnership with the Fênix – Ágape Cooperative to strengthen selective collection and the management of recyclable waste such as cardboard and plastic. The cooperative collects waste in specific bays belonging to the company, which provides big bags and reused drums for the city. Together, they develop projects that have a positive impact on the community and the environment.

Libra Ligas stands out as one of the main companies operating in the municipality of Banabuiú, directly employing more than 160 people and indirectly benefiting hundreds of families. This industrial presence represents a fundamental pillar for the region’s economic development, generating income, encouraging local trade and expanding qualified employment opportunities in the Sertão Central, playing an important role in building a sustainable and socially just economy.

We are always moving teams around and promoting training and integration moments for all sectors. Throughout the year, our internal actions take in various important dates for everyone, such as: Women’s Day, Workers’ Day, Parents’ Day, Yellow September, Pink October, Blue November, SIPAT and many other special moments that deserve to be highlighted.

G – Governance

In addition to its environmental and social actions, Libra operates with total environmental regularity. The company has a current Operating License issued by SEMACE (LO No. 407/2020), which authorizes the operation of the unit for quartz and hematite processing activities in the production of metal alloys, in accordance with the technical and environmental criteria required by the state agency. The company also has ISO 9001:2015 certification from BSI (British Standards Institution), which attests to the conformity of its Quality Management System. This certification is recognition of Libra’s commitment to continuous improvement, process efficiency and responsible management of its resources.

G – Governance

Libra Ligas do Brasil has been investing in environmental engineering projects that modernize its processes and reinforce its commitment to sustainability and legal compliance. The project for the furnace’s exhaust and gas treatment system will include a high-efficiency filtering system to reduce dust and gas emissions, ensuring compliance with SEMACE and CONAMA Resolution 382/2006; the initiative is in the preparatory phase and is well on its way to being completed within the stipulated timeframe, with an estimated investment of R$17 million. Another step forward is the Dedusting System for the Transportation and Handling of Charcoal, which uses the innovative Fogger System and bag filters to control the dispersion of particles, in a schedule divided into stages that is well on its way to being completed within the deadline set by the competent bodies, totaling R$2.5 million in investments. Together, the dedusting projects already represent around R$20 million invested, reflecting Libra’s strategy of aligning industrial development, environmental responsibility and sustainable innovation.
